- Remove soap scum and hard-water buildup from showers and tubs

- Detail toilets, including the base and behind
- Polish mirrors, fixtures and glass
Living areas and bedrooms
- Dust ceiling fans and light fixtures — they've been spinning all summer
- Wipe baseboards, door frames and light switches
- Vacuum under furniture and cushions
- Swap summer bedding for warmer layers and wash the duvet covers
Windows and floors
- Clean interior glass, sills and tracks before it gets cold — the fall light is worth it
- Dust blinds and wipe window frames
- Refresh high-traffic carpet areas and entryways
- Mop hard floors edge to edge
